It feels like we just got home. My suitcase is still on the floor in the bedroom, half unpacked. I normally wouldn’t have left it there, but I plan on bringing mainly the same items on this next trip, so I’ve been just using the clothes and then replacing them as I wash them. Fred has been doing the same thing. We didn’t even discuss it. It just seemed more logical than putting it all away, making another list, and dragging it all out again in less than two weeks.
Come Wednesday, we are leaving again…and for a full two months this time. This will be the longest trip any of us have ever taken. We’ll be going on another cruise – this one heads north to Alaska, over to Southeast Asia, and then circles back to Los Angeles via Hawaii. Here’s the list of places that we are going to visit on this trip:
Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska
Icy Strait Point, Alaska
Tokyo (Yokohama), Japan
Incheon (Seoul), Korea
Hong Kong, China
Cai Lan-halong, Vietnam
Da Nang/Hue (Chan May), Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
The kids are really looking forward to Tokyo, since they are fans of manga and anime. Fred and I are excited about hiking the Great Wall in China. Of course, Fred can’t wait to show the kids Manila, since he grew up there. Other than the Philippines, Hong Kong, & Hawaii, every place on the list above is new for us.
There are quite a few sea days on this cruise because we are leaving and returning out of Los Angeles. We’re really not into the activities on board, so we’re all bringing things to keep us entertained. Kyle and Kayla will be busy drawing and writing things related to their creative projects (comics and video games), as well as playing video games for fun. Fred will be working on his business projects and reading for fun. I am bringing my travel guitar and will be polishing up some songs I’ve written recently. It’s going to be a fantastic, fun ride. I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
